A salute to Hannah Holloway, a graduating senior!

SSHR Salutes a Graduating Senior

SSHR is pleased to recognize Hannah Holloway, a graduating senior, who has been an active member since joining. Hannah received a full time internship in Dallas, Texas this spring for the 11th largest contractor in the United States. She was hired as a recruitment intern for this company which allowed her to gain valuable experience and to learn hands on about the work of a recruiter.

Some of the duties and responsibilities Hannah was assigned included conducting phone interviews with potential candidates, screening resumes, updating and tracking the company’s applicant tracking system, creating offer and rejection letters, communicating with candidates about potential future opportunities with the company, and organizing different events for the company to participate. Hannah also had the opportunity to participate in different career fairs around the country and explain to students what the company was all about.

According to Hannah, her internship was truly amazing and offered her an opportunity to not only learn more but to experience a role that she can envision as a potential career. Hannah has discovered recruiting as her dream job and is excited to continue this journey after college, whether it is with this company or some other company. Her philosophy is to learn what it takes to be a hard worker and be successful in a career you love.

Jazzmyn Roberts, MHR

Born and raised in Dallas, Tx. B.A. in Human Relations, 2015. Currently: Crisis Intervention/Triage Specialist at local Mental Health & Inpatient Center (2012-Present). Graduate Assistant in Student Affairs with OU’s Upward Bound Program: helping high school students recognize their potential and prepare for college entry and success. SSHR Intern. I hope to help marginalized students surpass their dreams of conquering higher education, hope to serve as an agent of change by means of diversifying various workplaces and education platforms. In the process of creating an outreach program to assist student parents on campus. I am also working to start a nonprofit organization that caters to the young women of the community that focuses on education, creativity, social awareness and justice among other things. Now a candidate for a Master of Arts in Human Relations this coming May.


Norman OU Human Relations majors are invited to become members of The Student Society for Human Relations (SSHR). The organization, however, is open to students of ALL HR undergraduate and Graduate MAJORS!!

Membership in this organization provides a voice for students in the Human Relations major and provides a way to enhance their academic experience. The organization's monthly meetings provide a chance to meet other students in the major and hear from some of the field's most knowledgeable experts. You will also be provided with valuable information on education, internship, and career opportunities for students at all levels. You'll meet lots of students like yourself as well as the Human Relations Faculty.
 Membership is only a one time $20 fee, and this includes a great SSHR t-shirt.


Monthly membership meetings are held during the academic year in PHSC Room 728 and serve as informational events for members. Guest speakers are invited to provide information about employment, careers, internships, and community building opportunities. Former HR professionals are often invited to share their experiences which gives valuable insight on putting an HR degree to practical use. In the fall and/or spring we hold a leadership retreat to develop and enhance leadership potential.

The OU-Tulsa chapter of the Human Relations Student Association (HRSA) also provides a way for students to become involved in the Department of Human Relations (HR) and ensure that their voices are heard.  In keeping with the philosophy of the HR program, the HRSA works to promote the Department, to facilitate communication between students and faculty, to voice student concerns to administration, and to advocate for professional development opportunities for students.

Tulsa HRSA Goals:

  • Facilitate experiences with the purpose of enhancing the Department’s objective of providing students with the knowledge and skills necessary to function effectively as professionals in a wide range of human service careers.
  • Support the Department’s goal of preparing students for effective leadership.
  • Find ways for students to work for the provision of equal opportunities for all by seeking solutions to community, state, regional, and international problems.
