Katie Barwick-Snell at University of Oklahoma, has been selected as an Outstanding Advising Certificate of Merit recipient in the Faculty Academic Advising category from NACADA: The Global Community for Academic Advising as part of the 2015 Annual Awards Program for Academic Advising. This award is presented to individuals who have demonstrated qualities associated with outstanding academic advising of students. The Faculty Academic Advising category includes those individuals whose primary responsibility is teaching and who spend a portion of their time providing academic advising services to students.

Since 1983, NACADA has honored individuals and institutions making significant contributions to the improvement of academic advising. The goal of NACADA is to promote quality academic advising and professional development of its membership to enhance the educational development of students.

NACADA’s membership has grown to over 11,000 faculty, professional advisors, administrators, counselors, and others in academic and student affairs concerned with the intellectual, personal, and vocational needs of students. In addition, NACADA is the representative and advocate of academic advising and those providing that service to higher education.

Katie Barwick-Snell was honored and presented with this award in Las Vegas, NV during the NACADA Annual Conference this October.

Invited contributor for Women and Reproduction: An Autoethnographic Approach.  The book contract is with Edwin Mellen-NY signed Jan 2010   chapter is   “Other Mothering.”

Invited contributor for called Southern Race Narratives- Jackson MS, Struggles with Integration.  2010 submitted a Chapter about  experiences of Mississippi Public Schools Integration in the 1970’s.

Unpublished research project conducted with Sophia Morren on sexual harassment  in college students.   Photograph included in Daniel Snell,(1997) Life of the Ancient Near East, New Haven and London Yale University Press.
