I graduated from OU with a MHR (counseling track) in 2000. I obtained my LPC license in 2001. After graduating, I worked as the Director of Substance Abuse Services-Out-Patient Department for Shadow Mountain at the Tulsa, Sapulpa & Claremore locations for 7 years. Next, I began working as a substance abuse counselor for delinquent adolescents & their families at the Tulsa County Juvenile Bureau (TCJB) Lakeside Home for 10 years until a fire occurred and the facility was closed. Currently, I still work for TCJB in a different department as a Substance Abuse Specialist providing substance abuse assessments, groups, individual and family counseling and have been here almost 4 years. The OU MHR program helped me complete my education to pursue my career. Having classes available in Tulsa and on weekends allowed me to work full time and attend school. Although there were a few times I had to attend classes in Norman.
